The polarization seems driven by the party primary process. Our current choice seems to be socialism or socialism for the rich. Socialism inside a state structure, combined with nationalist fervor, is called National Socialism. We are headed for this, and it’s not even disguised. Everything from antisemitism to partial government ownership of businesses, and the enrichment of the political class, screams of 1930’s fascism married to 1930’s style socialism.
We are one major recession away from battles in our streets. How will we make another 250 years? With 40 trillion dollars in debt, we are very close.
